1. Scammer succeeds in fraud attempt

Bad Camberg, Wednesday, September 10, 2025

An 84-year-old man in Bad Camberg fell victim to a fraudster posing as a bank employee on Wednesday afternoon. The senior received a call from an unknown man claiming to be from his bank, alleging suspicious transactions on his account. The scammer convinced him to transfer several thousand euros to another account under the pretense of reversing the fraudulent activity. Only when the victim later contacted a relative did the deception come to light, and the real bank was notified—but by then, it was too late to recover the money. Criminal police are now investigating.

Fraudsters use many tactics, but the outcome is always the same: victims risk losing their savings, leaving police and banks to step in. Remember: Genuine bank employees or police will never collect valuables from you in person. No prosecutor's office or other "authority" will do so either. No bank will ever call and demand a money transfer. Hanging up on such calls isn't rude—it's often the only way to stop the criminals. Through manipulative conversation, scammers pressure victims into handing over cash or high-value assets, either depositing them in a designated location or transferring them to strangers. Urgent advice: If you receive such a call, hang up immediately. For more information, visit www.polizei-beratung.de.

2. Vehicles catch fire in separate incidents

Runkel and Limburg, Wednesday, September 10, 2025

Two vehicle fires in Runkel and Limburg kept firefighters busy on Wednesday. The first call came just after 5:00 PM, reporting a blaze on private property at Am Wieschen in Dehrn. A man had parked his Ford in the yard after a drive, noticing smoke. Suddenly, flames erupted from the ventilation system, and within moments, the car was fully engulfed. All four occupants escaped unharmed before firefighters extinguished the blaze. Paramedics treated those involved, and two were taken to hospital as a precaution.

At around 8:40 PM, another fire broke out on Pariser Straße near the highway, this time involving a truck trailer. The driver had reportedly experienced brake issues on the A3 since Wiesbaden. After exiting near Limburg, he uncoupled the trailer on Pariser Straße—just as it caught fire. Firefighters quickly contained the blaze, and no injuries were reported. Both incidents caused significant property damage, with losses from the truck trailer running into the hundreds of thousands of euros. Police found no evidence of criminal activity in either case.

3. Cyclist injured in collision

Limburg, Schiede, Wednesday, September 10, 2025, 5:10 PM

A cyclist was injured in a traffic accident in Limburg on Wednesday afternoon. The man was riding his bike on the sidewalk along Schiede toward Weilburg around 5:10 PM when, upon leaving the path at high speed, he collided with a Volvo moving at walking pace from Josef-Ludwig-Straße toward Schiede. The impact left the cyclist injured; paramedics treated him at the scene. Both the bike and the car sustained damage. Police are investigating and ask witnesses to come forward by calling 06431/9140-0.
