Easter Holidays in the North - Events and Available Rooms for Spontaneous Visitors - Easter travel surges in Schleswig-Holstein as last-minute bookings rise

Easter bookings in Schleswig-Holstein are picking up, with demand rising across northern Germany. While some popular spots like Sylt and Heiligenhafen are nearly full, other areas still have rooms available for last-minute travellers. The holiday period runs from March 26 to April 10, and many destinations are preparing special events for visitors.

On Sylt, bookings over Easter remain strong, though last-minute reservations are still possible. The island of FĂśhr reports around 65% occupancy, with most stays centred on the holiday weekend itself. In LĂźbeck Bay, bookings match 2023 levels, but travellers are booking closer to their arrival dates.

Heiligenhafen is also nearly fully booked, while places like BĂźsum, Kiel, and the Duchy of Lauenburg still have free capacity. A growing trend of shorter stays and spontaneous trips means many can still find lodging in less crowded areas. Across the region, holiday destinations charge a resort tax to support local infrastructure. Rates differ by location, though exact figures for 2025 are not yet available. Alongside accommodation, visitors can enjoy Easter markets, egg hunts, and live concerts in many towns.

The Easter season in Schleswig-Holstein shows mixed occupancy, with high demand in some areas and open slots in others. Travellers willing to book late or stay for shorter periods still have options. Special events and resort taxes remain part of the holiday experience for those visiting the region.
