Kassel-Fasanenhof:
A patrol from the North Police Station was able to arrest a 30-year-old man on Sunday evening who is suspected of causing a traffic accident under the influence of alcohol and then fleeing the scene. The investigators of the hit-and-run group of the Kassel police are now looking for the unknown witness who observed the accident and provided a crucial tip.
The accident, according to current investigations, occurred in the course of the evening in the 'Eisenschmiede' street and was reported at 19:50. The 30-year-old was driving his Peugeot compact car in the direction of the Dutch Street when he suddenly veered off to the right and collided with a parked BMW. He then continued driving without caring for the damage caused, estimated at around 4,000 euros. The accident was, however, observed by a witness who left a note on the damaged vehicle. Through further investigations, the officers were later able to locate the damaged Peugeot and arrest the suspected perpetrator at his residence in Kassel. Since a breath alcohol test showed a value of over two promille, the 30-year-old had to accompany the patrol to the police station, where a blood test and the seizure of his driver's license followed. He now has to answer for driving under the influence and leaving the scene of an accident.
The witness who provided the police with the license plate number of the fleeing Peugeot, as well as other witnesses of the accident, are asked to contact the police at 0561 - 9100.
