Emergency Call Handler in Wiesbaden Guides Father Through Childbirth Over Phone

An employee at the central emergency control center in Wiesbaden became an impromptu birth coach over the phone on Tuesday (April 14), expertly guiding a soon-to-be father through the first critical steps of delivering his child. The city of Wiesbaden has now shared the remarkable story.

When the emergency call came in, the dispatcher quickly recognized the urgency of the situation thanks to a standardized questioning protocol. With calm, methodical instructions, he supported the father over the phone in taking the necessary steps before paramedics arrived.

According to reports, the expectant mother also remained remarkably composed during the advanced stages of labor, playing a key role in ensuring a smooth and complication-free delivery. When emergency responders and a doctor arrived, they took over the birth process—but since the baby was nearly there, the decision was made to delay the trip to the hospital.

The little girl was ultimately born in the ambulance. Mother and daughter were then transported to a hospital for further medical care. The Wiesbaden Fire Department extended its best wishes to the family for a bright future.
