Deutsche Bahn slashes BahnCard prices ahead of Easter travel chaos

Deutsche Bahn is preparing for a surge in travellers during the Easter holidays. Crowded trains are expected, especially on Maundy Thursday, Good Friday, and Easter Monday. To ease the rush, the company has launched a limited-time discount on BahnCard passes.

From 1 April to 31 July 2026, new and renewing customers can buy BahnCard 50 passes at reduced prices. Second-class passes drop from €244 to €199, while first-class options fall from €492 to €429. The offer extends to Senior BahnCard 50 and My BahnCard 50 as well.

This year, an upgraded Senior BahnCard also includes access to DB Lounges. With heavy demand on long-distance routes, Deutsche Bahn advises passengers to book seats early. Those with flexible tickets should check real-time capacity updates before travelling. To avoid the busiest days, travellers are encouraged to consider Holy Saturday or Easter Sunday instead. The company expects high booking volumes, making advance planning essential for a smoother journey.

The discounts aim to support passengers during one of the year's busiest travel periods. Seat reservations and real-time updates will help manage overcrowding. The promotion runs until the end of July, giving travellers several months to take advantage of the savings.
