- E-scooter checks during 'ROADPOL Safety Days' in the city center - Offenbach (fg) As part of the 'ROADPOL Safety Days', officers from the traffic inspection conducted stationary and mobile traffic checks throughout the city on Thursday, focusing on 'E-scooters'.
The goal of such checks is always to increase traffic safety and to check the compliance with legal regulations in the use of electric micro-vehicles. During the deployment, the officers checked, among others, 37 drivers of E-scooters. Two controlled E-scooter drivers did not have a valid insurance for their vehicle. Two other persons did not have a general operating permit; due to vehicle defects, two traffic participants also lost their operating permit. In addition, the law enforcement officers penalized three other offenses.
Besides the warnings, the traffic specialists held numerous preventive discussions regarding the use of E-scooters. Because riding E-scooters also involves risks, especially if they are used unsafely or under the influence of alcohol or drugs. There will also be focus checks in the future.
Hint: E-scooters may only be used alone, with a valid insurance plate, and in compliance with the applicable traffic regulations. The same alcohol limits apply as for car drivers. An overview of E-scooter use is attached to the message.
