Brazen break-in at Schwalmstadt building leaves police probing thefts

Break-in and Theft in SchwalmstadtTime of offense: Saturday, September 27, 2025, 6:00 PM, to Monday, September 29, 2025, 11:00 AM

Between Saturday at 6:00 PM and Monday at 11:00 AM, unknown perpetrators broke into a building on Harthbergring in Schwalmstadt and stole several balancing valves and water meters.

According to current investigations, the offenders first forced open a padlock on the building's entrance door to gain access. They then proceeded to the basement, where they stole multiple balancing valves and a water meter. Afterward, they destroyed another padlock on a neighboring building. Using an underpass with stairs, they entered a second basement and stole another water meter before fleeing with the stolen goods in an unknown direction.

The estimated damage amounts to a low four-figure sum.

The Schwalmstadt police have launched an investigation and ask any witnesses who may have information about the incident to come forward by calling 49 6691 943-0.
