Biebrich's Palm Sunday procession unites faith, donkeys and community spirit

The Evangelical Church of Hope in Biebrich will hold its annual Palm Sunday procession on March 29. Starting at 10 a.m., the event invites people of all ages and backgrounds to take part. The walk will feature donkeys Pepe and Pedro, symbolising Jesus' humble arrival into Jerusalem.

The procession begins at Biebrich's main church and follows a route through Biebrich Palace Park. It will conclude at the Albert Schweitzer Community Center, where participants can meet the donkeys and enjoy light refreshments.

Palm Sunday marks the start of Holy Week for Christians around the world. The event also serves as a peace demonstration, emphasising themes of harmony and reconciliation.

Donkeys in the Valley, a local group, will accompany the procession. Organisers encourage everyone to join, regardless of background, as the walk celebrates both tradition and community spirit.

The procession offers a chance to reflect on faith and unity. After the walk, attendees can interact with the donkeys and share refreshments at the community centre. The event remains open to all, continuing a long-standing local tradition.
