40 Years of Dedication: Andreas Gründel's Journey with Offenbach's Transport Fleet
Andreas Gründel has reached a remarkable milestone: 40 years of service with Offenbach's municipal transport division. His career began as an apprentice mechanic in 1983, and today he oversees a fleet of 155 heavy vehicles for the city.
Gründel started his journey on August 1, 1983, as a trainee motor vehicle mechanic at Offenbach's municipal transport company (OVB). He completed his basic training in Mercedes' apprenticeship workshop, then located on Daimlerstraße. Over the years, he earned his master craftsman certification while working at OVB.
In 2010, he took on the role of workshop manager at the public utilities' site on the same street. Last year, his responsibilities expanded further when he became fleet manager. Now, each morning, he inspects the heavy vehicles before they enter Offenbach's traffic. The fleet under his supervision includes 155 specialised vehicles, each presenting unique challenges. His work ensures the safety of passengers and other road users. Colleagues, like Heiko Linne, operations manager at ESO Stadtservice GmbH, highlight the long-standing professional relationship built on mutual respect. Martin Wilhelm, the city's treasurer and responsible councillor, values employees who stay current in their field and provide decades of continuity. Gründel's dedication reflects this commitment, marking 25 years with the company before reaching his 40-year anniversary.
Gründel's four decades of service demonstrate his deep connection to Offenbach's municipal operations. His role in maintaining and managing the city's heavy vehicle fleet remains critical to daily transport and public safety. The city recognises his expertise and long-term contribution to its infrastructure.
