Weekend chaos in Limburg-Weilburg leaves teens injured and drivers facing charges

A weekend of disturbances in the Limburg-Weilburg district saw multiple violent incidents and dangerous driving. Police are now investigating a series of offences, including an alcohol-fuelled crash, a hit-and-run attempt, and a brutal attack on younger teenagers.

The troubles began early Sunday in Frickhofen, where an unlicensed driver caused a traffic accident while heavily intoxicated. Authorities later charged the individual with drink-driving, operating a vehicle without a licence, and endangering road users. No similar incidents had been recorded in the district since late 2024.

On Saturday evening, a group of teenagers clashed in Niederselters. A 16-year-old from Oberselters stands accused of assaulting three younger boys—a 12-year-old from Brechen and two 14-year-olds from Selters. Witnesses reported choking, kicking, and spitting, while one victim was allegedly struck with a cigarette butt. Meanwhile, in Dornburg, an 18-year-old driver ignored police signals and sped away from a traffic stop. The chase ended when the vehicle crashed into a snack bar, causing an estimated €30,000 in property damage. Officers have filed charges for fleeing police, reckless driving, and suspected involvement in illegal street racing.

Limburg police have opened investigations into all three cases. The incidents involved charges ranging from violent assault to dangerous driving and property destruction. Authorities continue to gather evidence as the cases proceed.
