Teen driver crashes stolen car after high-speed police chase in Kassel

A young man's attempt to flee in a car from police in Harleshausen on Sunday evening ended in a crash and his arrest. It was later discovered that the car had stolen license plates and he did not have a driver's license. The 18-year-old must now face charges of driving without a license, forgery, and unauthorized use of a vehicle.
Around 23:15, a patrol from the North Police Station noticed a Skoda Fabia traveling at an apparent high speed on the Wolfhager Street. When the small car then turned into the Blumenäckerweg at the same high speed, the officers decided to stop the vehicle due to its driving. However, the driver ignored the signals and the siren and tried to flee. The chase ended shortly after when the driver collided with the stump of a fallen tree while turning into the Krautackerstraße. The Skoda was no longer drivable, and the driver was arrested. During the subsequent inspection of the 18-year-old driver from Kassel and the 20-year-old passenger from the Kassel district, as well as the vehicle they were using, the officers quickly found the reason for the attempted escape: the Skoda had been taken out of service at the beginning of September, and the license plates had been stolen from another vehicle a few days ago. Additionally, the driver did not have a license. Since the ownership of the Skoda could not be finally clarified, the car and the license plates were secured, and the investigation continues.
