Unsecured cranes halt Polish truck after dangerous traffic stop
A routine traffic check on a Polish semi-trailer revealed serious safety violations on August 14, 2025. Officers from the Werra-MeiĂner Police Directorate stopped the vehicle on Federal Highway B7 near Datterode at around 2:15 p.m. The truck was carrying three mini construction cranes, none of which had been properly secured. The inspection uncovered multiple issues with the load. The truckâs tarpaulin was visibly bulging, a clear sign that the cargo was unstable. One of the cranes, weighing 1,350 kg, had already shifted sideways off the loading platform.
The 67-year-old driver was immediately prohibited from continuing the journey. Authorities required the entire load to be correctly secured before the truck could move again. In addition to the safety concerns, the driver faced penalties for breaching a through-traffic restriction. Officials imposed a âŹ100 fine for the traffic violation and an extra âŹ60 as a security deposit.
The incident highlights the risks of improperly secured loads on public roads. The driver must now ensure the cranes are fastened correctly before resuming travel. The penalties serve as a reminder of the strict regulations governing freight transport.
