Two New Year car incidents shake Vogelsberg with hit-and-run and rollover crash
Two separate incidents involving parked or moving vehicles occurred in the Vogelsberg region over the New Year period. In one case, a young driver lost control of her car, while in another, a parked vehicle was damaged by an unknown driver who fled the scene. Neither incident resulted in serious injuries.
On December 27, a 49-year-old man parked his Dacia Duster in a holiday village car park in Herbstein. When he returned two days later, he discovered damage to the left front fender. The vehicle had sustained around âŹ1,500 in repairs, but the responsible party had left without reporting the collision.
Early on January 1, a 19-year-old woman was driving an Audi A3 Sportback near the Am Taufstein car park in Breungeshain. As she attempted to turn right onto a state road, the car slid down an embankment, rolled over, and landed upside down. The vehicle suffered roughly âŹ7,000 in damage, though the driver walked away unharmed.
The Daciaâs owner reported the hit-and-run to local authorities, while the Audi driverâs crash remains under investigation. Both incidents highlight the risks of winter driving and unaccounted collisions in the region.
