Top Investigative Journalist Martin Murphy Joins CORRECTIV After Bild Exit

Martin Murphy joins CORRECTIV from Bild, where he has led the investigative department since March 2025 and coordinated international research projects.

"CORRECTIV has become one of Germany's leading names in investigative journalism. I'm thrilled to be on board and to work on stories that can truly make a difference," Murphy said of his move.

Born in London in 1970 and raised in Germany's Rhineland, Murphy began his career at the Financial Times Deutschland and the news agency dpa-AFX before joining Handelsblatt in November 2008. From January 2015, he served as senior reporter, specializing in corporate affairs, corruption, and cartel investigations. His long-term investigations include exposing serious misconduct at ThyssenKrupp and his reporting on the Volkswagen emissions scandal, for which he received the Wächterpreis (Guardian Award) from Germany's daily press.

"Martin Murphy is a perfect fit for CORRECTIV: he brings tenacity, courage, and journalistic determination—precisely the values that define our newsroom," said Anette Dowideit, CORRECTIV's editor-in-chief.

Justus von Daniels, CORRECTIV's co-editor-in-chief, added: "With his extensive expertise in economic crime and security policy, Murphy is a major asset to our team. Together, we aim to take our investigative reporting to the next level."

Murphy is expected to begin his work at CORRECTIV in June.
