Teen motorcyclist crashes and elderly woman scammed in separate Weilburg incidents

Two separate incidents occurred near Weilburg on Wednesday, November 12, 2025. A teenage motorcyclist crashed after losing control, while con artists targeted an elderly woman in Löhnberg. Both cases are now under investigation by local authorities. A 16-year-old rider from Mengerskirchen was travelling along County Road 421 toward Löhnberg when the accident happened. Around a slight left bend, he veered off the road due to a moment of inattention. His bike skidded into a thicket, leaving him with minor scrapes and bruises. The young motorcyclist walked away with only superficial injuries and a fright.

Earlier that same day, two men posing as utility workers tricked their way into a senior living facility in Löhnberg. They convinced an elderly resident they needed to read her meter, gaining access to her home. While one kept her distracted, the other stole several valuables without being noticed. Police confirmed that legitimate meter readers always announce visits in advance by post. Authorities have yet to identify the suspects, as no descriptions were provided. The criminal investigation unit is now handling the case and has asked for public assistance. Anyone with information can contact them at 06431 / 9140-0.

The motorcyclist's crash resulted in no serious harm, though the incident served as a warning about road safety. Meanwhile, the theft in Löhnberg highlights the risk of deception scams targeting older residents. Police continue to seek leads in both ongoing investigations.
