Gießen: Large police operation in Gießen - Suspected perpetrator arrested

In the early morning hours, a large police operation took place in Steinstraße.

Around 00:11, witnesses reported a dispute between two people and heard a gunshot. Additionally, the emergency control center informed the police about a man with a gunshot wound.

Several police units and a police dog arrived at the scene. Officers cared for the 36-year-old victim, who was taken to a hospital by ambulance.

Uniformed and plainclothes police officers, special forces, and specially trained negotiators were on the scene until the afternoon. Special forces arrested a 54-year-old suspect.

Investigations into the background and the course of events are ongoing.
