Police seize 25 firearms after late-night weapon incident in Raunheim
A late-night police operation in Raunheim on March 21, 2026, led to the confiscation of multiple firearms after reports of a passenger brandishing a weapon. Authorities acted swiftly, revoking the suspect's gun licence and seizing 25 weapons during a follow-up search the next day.
The incident began around 1:15 a.m. when witnesses alerted police to a car passenger near Flörsheimer Straße appearing to handle a firearm. Officers stopped the vehicle, which carried four people, and found a blank-firing pistol and ammunition. The 19-year-old suspect held a valid licence for the items.
No threats or injuries occurred during the stop. However, as a precaution, police confiscated the weapon and notified the Hessen firearms authority. By Sunday, the authority had revoked the suspect's permit and ordered the surrender of all firearms. A house search confirmed compliance, with 25 weapons seized in total.
The case has been referred to the firearms authority for further review. The suspect's licence remains revoked, and all confiscated weapons remain in custody. Police confirmed no charges have yet been filed in connection with the incident.
