Massive fire at Offenbach plant nursery sparks arson investigation

A fire broke out at a plant nursery in Offenbach on Thursday afternoon. The blaze, reported just before 1 p.m., sent thick smoke into the air near Hanauer Straße and Karl-Herdt-Weg. Authorities quickly responded to contain the situation. The fire started in a barn-like structure at the nursery. Flames spread to nearby vegetation, creating a large plume of smoke visible from a distance. Firefighters arrived promptly, with police supporting their efforts using a water cannon to douse the flames.

Investigators have not yet determined the exact cause of the fire. Arson remains a possibility, prompting a criminal police inquiry. Despite the intensity of the blaze, no injuries were reported. The total damage to the building and surrounding plants is estimated at €35,000. Police continue to examine the scene as part of their ongoing investigation. The nursery now faces repairs and recovery following the incident.
