Lahn-Dill region rocked by crime wave and traffic collision in one week

A series of incidents took place across the Lahn-Dill region this week. Police made arrests, investigated a break-in, and responded to a road collision. Authorities also seized illegal gambling machines and detained an individual without proper documentation.

On Monday, 18.08.2025, officers in Hadamar confiscated five illegal gambling devices and a betting terminal. The operation targeted unlicensed gambling activity in the area.

Two suspects were arrested earlier in Wetzlar on 12.08.2025. They allegedly sold stolen items, including human skeletons and skulls, from a burglary in Elz. The arrests took place at the Volkshochschule Wetzlar. Between Tuesday evening (19.08.2025, 19:00) and Wednesday morning (20.08.2025, 08:00), a vending machine was broken into in Weilburg-Ahausen. The extent of the damage remains unclear. Later on Wednesday, at around 15:00, a motorcyclist collided with a truck on the L 3280 in Dornburg. The rider suffered injuries and was taken to hospital. The estimated cost of the damage is approximately 1,000 EUR. That same day, at about 16:20, police in Elz stopped a person without a valid residence permit or driver’s licence. The individual was taken into custody for further checks.

The incidents led to multiple arrests and ongoing investigations. Authorities continue to address illegal activities, traffic violations, and property crimes in the region. Further updates are expected as inquiries progress.
