Rheinmetall reports €1.9B Q1 sales with record order backlog

Rheinmetall has announced strong financial results for early 2026, with sales climbing to €1.9 billion in the first quarter. This marks an eight percent rise compared to the same period last year. The defence group also expects even faster growth in the coming months. The company’s total sales for 2025 reached €9.9 billion, setting a solid foundation for 2026. In the first three months of this year, its digital systems division performed particularly well, with sales jumping 16 percent to €349 million. The air defence sector also saw a sharp increase, rising 43 percent to €192 million.

Rheinmetall’s tracked and wheeled vehicles division brought in €985 million, up three percent from the previous year. Meanwhile, naval systems generated €77 million in March alone. The division now holds an order backlog worth €5.5 billion, contributing to the company’s record-high overall backlog. Looking ahead, Rheinmetall has set its annual sales target between €14 billion and €14.5 billion. Management anticipates a significant acceleration in growth during the second quarter of 2026.

The latest figures highlight Rheinmetall’s expanding presence in defence and technology markets. With record order books and rising sales across key divisions, the company is on track for another year of substantial growth. Analysts will watch closely as the second quarter unfolds.
