Hochtaunus hit by violent crimes and fraud in a single week
A series of crimes struck the Hochtaunus region last week, leaving residents on edge. Incidents included a violent assault at a skate park, a brazen car theft, a home invasion, and a sophisticated fraud scheme. Police are investigating each case as separate but troubling events.
The first incident occurred early on Tuesday, October 28, 2025, at around 4:45 AM. Thieves stole a white Opel Grandland X from a leisure park in Wehrheim. The vehicle, with the licence plate HG-JM 1008, had been left unlocked. The culprits arrived in a black VW Golf, took the Opel, and escaped in both cars.
Later that same evening, at around 8:10 PM, two residents in Friedrichsdorf were attacked in their own apartment. Burglars broke in, only to find the couple at home. Startled, the intruders assaulted the victims before fleeing the scene. The following day, Tuesday, October 29, 2025, a violent altercation took place at Oberursel's skate park. A 25-year-old man, heavily intoxicated with a blood alcohol level of over 2.3 per mille, assaulted a 49-year-old man. The attack left the older man injured, and the suspect was later arrested. A separate fraud case emerged earlier in the week. On Friday, October 24, 2025, a man in Weißkirchen was tricked into handing over more than €1,000. The suspect posed as a charity collector and insisted on cashless donations. The victim entered his PIN multiple times, only realising the fraud after contacting police—by which time the money was gone and the suspect had disappeared.
Police are now piecing together details from each crime. The stolen Opel remains missing, while the assault victims recover from their ordeals. Authorities urge residents to remain vigilant, secure their vehicles, and verify charity collectors before making donations. Investigations into all four incidents are ongoing.
