Gunman steals van at knifepoint in Rödermark, police arrest suspect
A 28-year-old man was arrested in Rödermark on Tuesday evening after allegedly stealing a van at gunpoint. Police detained the suspect following a brief search and seized what appeared to be a firearm and pepper spray. Authorities are now investigating the incident as a violent extortion case.
The incident began when the suspect allegedly ambushed a 25-year-old victim in Max-Planck-Straße. According to reports, he brandished a black firearm and demanded the keys to the victim's brown Fiat Ducato van. After taking the keys, the man drove away in the stolen vehicle.
Police later spotted the van near the intersection of Rödermarkring and Senefelderstraße. Officers moved in quickly and arrested the suspect without further confrontation.
