The GPA trade union secured over €240 million for its members in 2025 through legal protections. This figure marks a sharp rise of roughly €108 million compared to the previous year. Severance packages and legal interventions played a major role in the increase.

Negotiated severance deals accounted for more than €221.7 million across 67 agreements. Beyond these payouts, the union recovered nearly €4 million through court rulings and around €1.3 million via judicial settlements. Another €13 million came from interventions and out-of-court agreements.

Markus Hiesberger, deputy federal managing director of the GPA, highlighted that the union's legal protection helps members in disputes with employers or authorities. The GPA also provides legal counselling to members in all federal states on weekdays. Dr. Michael Gogola, head of the union's federal legal department, noted that workplace conflicts are growing more intense, driving up demand for legal support.

No public figures confirm how many GPA members directly benefited from severance payments or legal protections in 2025.

The GPA's legal efforts resulted in a record total of over €240 million secured for members in 2025. The increase reflects both higher severance payouts and a rise in workplace disputes. The union continues to expand its legal services to meet growing demand.
