Five-car pileup on A3 motorway near Wiesbaden causes rush-hour chaos

A multi-vehicle pileup involving five cars occurred Friday afternoon at the Wiesbaden Interchange on the A3 motorway, according to the Autobahn police in Wiesbaden.

Around 2:10 p.m., a camper van traveling toward Cologne in the left lane caused a rear-end collision due to driver inattention. The crash then drew in four additional vehicles. The cars and camper van involved in the accident blocked the main lanes of the interchange during rush hour.

Two people were taken to a hospital for evaluation of possible injuries. Traffic backed up for roughly eight kilometers. Police estimate the property damage at approximately €90,000.

The main carriageway was temporarily closed in both directions but was later reopened. However, the left lane remained shut for some time due to recovery operations.
