Firefighters battle blaze in Wiesbaden's Kloppenheim neighborhood
A fire broke out in Wiesbaden's Kloppenheim neighbourhood early on Wednesday morning. Emergency services rushed to the scene after flames were reported on Hackenbaum Street at around 9:50 a.m. The blaze quickly spread from a balcony into parts of the roof. Firefighters from Stations 1, 2, and 3 arrived alongside volunteer crews from Bierstadt and Kloppenheim. The Igstadt Volunteer Fire Department also supported operations by maintaining readiness at Station 3. Two ambulances and paramedics were on standby, though only one person received medical attention and remained uninjured.
No one was inside the building when crews arrived. Firefighters successfully rescued two cats, both unharmed. To ensure safety, the power supplier cut electricity to the property, allowing teams to tackle the flames more effectively. The fire had extended into the roof structure, requiring extensive overhaul work. Crews remained at the scene to fully secure the area and prevent further spread.
The incident caused no serious injuries, but the building sustained damage to the balcony and roof. Authorities have not yet released further details on the cause of the fire. Emergency services confirmed the situation was under control by late morning.
