Explosion and van theft baffle police in Offenbach and Mühlheim
Police in Offenbach and Mühlheim am Main are investigating two separate incidents that took place over the weekend. In one case, a school mailbox was damaged by an explosion, while in another, thieves broke into a van and stole expensive tools. Authorities are now asking the public for help in identifying those responsible.
Between Friday at 3:00 PM and Monday at 7:30 AM, an unknown individual or group set off a pyrotechnic device at a school mailbox on Heinestraße in Mühlheim am Main. The blast caused around €200 in damage. Offenbach's Criminal Investigation Department (CID) has taken over the case and is urging anyone with information to call their hotline at 069 8098-1234. Mühlheim police can also be reached at 06108 6000-0.
In a separate incident, a Ford Transit van parked in Offenbach's August-Bebel-Ring area was targeted between Friday at 3:00 PM and Monday at 1:15 PM. The perpetrators smashed a side window to break in and stole garden tools valued at over €6,000. Police have not yet linked the case to other recent crimes, though a series of burglaries in nearby Dietzenbach led to arrests in early April.
Both investigations remain ongoing, with authorities relying on witness accounts to move forward. The public is encouraged to report any suspicious activity or relevant details to the provided police contacts. No arrests have been made in connection with either incident so far.
