Crime wave hits Offenbach, Langen, and Dietzenbach with thefts and assaults
A series of crimes has been reported across Offenbach, Langen, and Dietzenbach in recent days. The incidents include thefts, vandalism, and assaults, with suspects ranging from teenagers to adults. Police are investigating several cases, though not all have led to arrests.
In Offenbach, two teenagers—aged 15 and 16—were provisionally arrested for stealing and damaging three scooters. The pair remain under investigation for the theft and destruction.
On Jacques-Offenbach-Straße, three unknown individuals robbed a 17-year-old of his phone. The victim reported the incident, but no arrests have been made so far. A separate case involved a man in his mid-30s, described as around 1.80 metres tall, slim, with a brown beard. He allegedly inappropriately touched a 10-year-old girl on a bus in Offenbach. Authorities are searching for the suspect, who was last seen wearing a black jacket and dark jeans. Meanwhile, in Dietzenbach, two unidentified children or teenagers threw rocks at a Mercedes Sprinter on Paul-Brass-Straße. The attack caused several hundred euros in damage to the vehicle. In Langen, a woman in her 40s stole a necklace from an elderly victim using a jewellery scam. Witnesses described the suspect as approximately 1.65 metres tall, stocky, with reddish-brown hair styled in an updo. Back in Offenbach, an unknown perpetrator vandalised four vehicles on Obere Grenzstraße. The damage is estimated at around €60,000, making it one of the costliest incidents in the area. The only reported crime with a time frame partially overlapping early morning hours occurred in Mannheim, where a vehicle's tires were slashed between Monday evening and Tuesday morning. No similar incidents were recorded in Offenbach during that period.
Police continue to investigate the majority of these cases, with only the scooter theft resulting in arrests so far. The incidents have caused financial losses and raised concerns about public safety in the affected areas. Authorities urge anyone with information to come forward.
