Chancerygate Expands into Germany with New Berlin Office for Urban Logistics
UK Developer Chancerygate Expands into Germany as Demand for Urban Logistics Space Grows
British developer and investor Chancerygate is pressing ahead with its European expansion, now entering the German market with the opening of a new office in Berlin, the company announced in a press release on March 23. Jonas Hitz has been appointed Head of Germany, overseeing all operations in the country.
Hitz will focus on identifying investment opportunities in the core-plus and value-add segments, as well as securing development sites. The initial priority will be Germany's seven largest cities and other major urban hubs.
The move comes in response to rising demand for urban logistics space, with Chancerygate highlighting a particular shortage of modern, multi-tenant properties that meet current sustainability standards. At the same time, demand for such facilities is increasing across a diverse range of users.
The company's strategy combines both existing assets and new developments, aiming to build a portfolio that delivers steady income alongside long-term growth potential.
Founded in 1995 and headquartered in London, Chancerygate has spent the past three years establishing a European platform. It currently has over 80,000 square meters of logistics space under construction or in development across Ireland, Spain, and Portugal.
In its home market of the UK, the pipeline includes around 204,000 square meters across 15 locations. Additionally, Chancerygate manages properties worth more than €810 million in the UK and continental Europe, with a portfolio comprising over 540 rental units totaling more than 440,000 square meters of commercial space.
Jonas Hitz, Head of Germany at Chancerygate, commented: "Germany faces a shortage of high-quality, strategically located multi-tenant urban logistics facilities built to the latestESGstandards. Meanwhile, demand for this type of space is surging among a wide range of users, making this the perfect time for Chancerygate to enter the market."
He added that the company's approach had already proven successful in the UK and increasingly across Europe, expressing enthusiasm for the opportunities ahead. "We are already leveraging many of these prospects and look forward to further expanding our pipeline of development sites and existing properties across Germany."
