Airtel's new AI system blocks OTP scams in real time across India
Airtel has launched an AI-powered fraud detection system to combat OTP scams in real time. The technology is already active in Haryana and will soon cover every state and region in India. Users will receive instant alerts if the system detects suspicious activity during calls.
The new system works at the network level, scanning calls for potential fraud risks. If a bank OTP is triggered while a user is on a call flagged as suspicious, the AI immediately sends a warning. This proactive approach aims to stop scammers before they can exploit personal details.
Unlike gradual rollouts, Airtel plans a full nationwide launch within the next two weeks. The company's goal is to strengthen cybersecurity across its network, reducing both spam and financial fraud. The solution is designed specifically to block banking scams linked to OTP theft.
The AI-driven alerts will reach all Airtel customers in India by the end of the rollout. The system's real-time intervention targets OTP fraud, offering users an extra layer of protection. Airtel has confirmed no further phased introductions, ensuring complete coverage at once.
