Afghan man detained at Frankfurt Airport after illegal re-entry to Germany
A 20-year-old Afghan man was detained at Frankfurt am Main Airport on March 12 after arriving from Oslo. Federal police discovered he was living in Germany illegally and had previously been deported to Norway under a national entry ban.
The man landed at Frankfurt Airport but failed to board his onward flight to Pakistan. Authorities quickly identified him as staying in the country unlawfully. A check revealed an active entry and residence ban following an earlier deportation to Norway.
Federal police launched a new investigation and arranged for his immediate detention. The following day, he was scheduled for deportation back to Norway. No broader statistics on similar cases at Frankfurt Airport in 2024 were available. While five Chinese women were found without valid permits during raids in 2025, no recent deportation figures have been released.
The man's detention follows a breach of German immigration rules. His deportation to Norway was set for the day after his arrest. Authorities continue to enforce entry bans for those previously removed from the country.
