100 used tires illegally dumped at German highway rest stop

Around 100 used tires were found illegally dumped at the 'Erlensee' rest area along the A5 highway in Bickenbach. The incident took place sometime between March 23 and 26, according to local authorities. Police are now investigating the case as unauthorised waste disposal. The discarded tires were discovered near the rest stop, having been thrown over the guardrail into the nearby woodland. Officers from the South Hesse Highway Police Station are leading the inquiry into the illegal dumping.

Authorities have called on witnesses who may have seen suspicious activity in the area to come forward. Anyone with information is asked to contact the police directly at +49 6151 8756-0.

The investigation remains ongoing as police work to identify those responsible for the dumping. Illegal waste disposal carries potential penalties under German law. The case highlights the challenges of enforcing environmental regulations at highway rest areas.
