Urban Development Funding Day

Wiesbaden's green transformation tour reveals climate-resilient urban spaces on May 8

"Vibrant Places, Strong Communities." Under this motto, Urban Development Funding Day will take place nationwide this Saturday, May 9.

"In Wiesbaden, we also use urban development funding to adapt to climate change, making our neighborhoods climate-resilient and more livable," said Christiane Hinninger, the city's environmental affairs commissioner. "Through desealing and planting, we are creating new spaces for people to gather and enjoy. All these projects demonstrate how sealed surfaces can be transformed into vibrant urban areas actively shaped by local residents."

Interested residents can see the results for themselves on a guided tour starting on Friday, May 8, at 4:00 PM under the theme "To the Squares—Urban Green! Let's Go!" Organized jointly by the city's Parks and Gardens Department and SEG Wiesbaden, the tour will pass through the Rheingau District and Westend, with stops at Wallufer Platz, Elsässer Park, Blücherplatz, and Bülowplatz. The walk will conclude around 6:00 PM at Sedanplatz.
