Wiesbaden's Bold New Grants Fuel Experimental Performing Arts Projects

Wiesbaden has awarded multiple work stipends to support artistic research and early-stage projects. A five-member jury selected artists working across theatre, dance, and multimedia performances. The grants aim to foster experimentation and professional growth in the city’s performing arts scene.

The funded projects cover a wide range of themes. Lena Kunz received a stipend for diving trips (((((((( of echoes & ghosts ((((((((((((—a movement and text exploration of transgenerational trauma. Katharina Heißenhuber will develop Musical Hybrids, a project blending vocal training with cross-genre songwriting.

Elena Packhäuser is adapting Charlotte P. Gilman’s novel *Herland* for the stage. Moritz Buch’s *Nationalism Reloaded – 20 Years After the ‘Summer Fairy Tale’* will examine nationalism through a transdisciplinary, multimedia lens. Matthew Tusa’s *Dance Research: Why Does Patriarchy Persist?* critiques patriarchal structures through movement. Theatre also features prominently. Ann Kathrin Pfahler is writing *Of Astronauts and Deep-Sea Divers // UFO*, a new play. Nora Koschel-Gelecker and Christiane Stahl are creating *SpielRaum*, an interactive theatre project designed for young audiences. The grants reflect Wiesbaden’s commitment to nurturing bold, boundary-pushing work. Many projects involve direct collaboration with adolescents or explore pressing social questions.

The stipends provide financial backing for research, drafts, and artistic development. Recipients will use the support to refine their concepts and bring new performances to life. The initiative strengthens Wiesbaden’s reputation as a hub for innovative performing arts.
