Rosbach's new data center secures building permit, paving way for digital growth
A new data center in Rosbach has taken a major step forward with the official handover of its building permit. The facility, set to strengthen the town's digital infrastructure, was formally approved on 29 January 2026. Local officials and business leaders gathered at Rosbach Town Hall to mark the occasion.
The permit was presented by Birgit Weckler, First Deputy District Administrator of Wetteraukreis, to firstcolo Datacenters GmbH. The company's executive teamāJerome Evans, Nicolaj Kamensek, and Dennis Bergfeldāattended the ceremony alongside Steffen Maar, Rosbach's mayor, and Mathias Radu from the district building authority.
Other key figures included Denis Grosch, Head of Urban Planning and Real Estate, and Nils Schellhammer, who oversees economic development, urban planning, and climate strategy. Sebastian Briel, Head of the Mayor's Office, was also present.
The new data center builds on five years of digital progress in Wetteraukreis. Since 2021, the region has expanded fibre-optic coverage to 85% of households and boosted average broadband speeds to 500 Mbit/s. Over 300 IT jobs have been created, with the Rosbach facility playing a central role in this growth.
The permit handover clears the way for construction to begin. Once operational, the data center will further enhance Rosbach's digital capabilities and support local economic development. The project aligns with broader efforts to modernise infrastructure across Wetteraukreis.
