Offenbach's Street Patrols Expand to Bieber for Cleaner Public Spaces
Offenbach has expanded its Rundgänger ('Street Patrol') initiative to cover the Bieber neighbourhood. The move comes as part of the city's ongoing efforts to keep public spaces clean and reduce illegal dumping. Since March 2026, teams have been actively monitoring streets and reporting issues through the official fault-reporting system.
The patrols form a central part of Offenbach's '48-Hour Trash Removal Guarantee', a collaboration with ESO Stadtservice GmbH. Their role includes documenting waste and other irregularities, ensuring faster responses to cleanliness concerns. Reports generated by the teams are sent directly to the city's regulatory office, speeding up investigations into administrative violations.
Originally staffed by 18 employees, the project has grown by 40% since its expansion to Bieber in late 2025. As of March 2026, around 25 workers now participate in the initiative, which operates under Germany's SGB II welfare program and is managed by MainArbeit. Marcus Schenk, Bieber's core area manager, highlighted the benefits of the expanded patrols. He noted that increased visibility helps maintain cleaner streets and public areas, reinforcing the city's commitment to urban cleanliness.
The extended patrols now cover more ground in Bieber, with teams reporting issues directly to authorities. The initiative aims to ensure quicker cleanups and stricter enforcement against illegal dumping. Offenbach continues to build on its promise of a cleaner, more orderly urban environment.
