Hanau's Mayor Explores Economic Growth with ALD Vacuum Technologies

Mayor Dr. Maximilian Bieri recently visited ALD Vacuum Technologies GmbH in Hanau to discuss economic growth and job opportunities. The company, a key player in materials technology, employs around 550 people at its Hanau headquarters and 970 worldwide. The visit highlighted Hanau's role as an industrial hub and explored ways to deepen collaboration between the city and the firm.

ALD Vacuum Technologies has built a strong presence in Hanau, known for its steady growth and high employee retention. Workers often stay long-term, drawn by innovative projects and a flat management structure. The company specialises in custom-built systems, tailoring each design to meet specific customer needs—a factor that sets it apart in the market.

During the visit, Dr. Bieri presented Hanau's latest labour market strategy. He also toured ALD's facilities, including a new pilot car battery system. This combined lithium-ion and redox flow setup will supply 40 to 50 percent of the site's electricity, reducing reliance on the public grid. The system doubles as a demonstration unit for clients, supported by ALD's own control software.

The mayor's discussions with ALD leadership focused on reinforcing Hanau's position as a centre for materials technology. Both sides explored potential partnerships to boost local employment and economic development.

The meeting underscored ALD's importance to Hanau's industrial sector and its commitment to sustainable energy solutions. The new car battery system will cut grid dependence while showcasing the company's technical capabilities. Further talks are expected to shape future projects between the city and the firm.
