Gießen Hosts Free Lecture on Far-Right Conspiracy Theories Next March
A free public lecture on far-right narratives and conspiracy theories will take place in Gießen next March. The event aims to tackle the rising threat of far-right extremism, which increasingly targets young people through social media. Organisers are urging interested attendees to register in advance as spaces are limited.
The lecture, titled 'Far-Right Narratives and Conspiracy Theories', is scheduled for Thursday, March 12, 2026, from 6:30 PM to 8:30 PM. It will be held at the Jokus Youth and Cultural Center in Gießen. Four organisations—the Youth Education Agency, DEXT Expert Center, Gießen Adult Education Center, and the Center of Expertise on Right-Wing Extremism—are jointly hosting the event.
Attendees will learn about strategies to counter far-right radicalisation on platforms like TikTok, where extremists actively recruit young users. The session will also offer practical advice on identifying and responding to far-right content online. Experts warn that far-right extremism now poses the biggest threat to liberal democracy, with growing efforts to normalise radical views in mainstream society.
Admission is free, but registration is mandatory. Those wishing to attend must sign up via the Gießen Adult Education Center's website at www.vhs-ourwebsite/course-search/course/Lecture-Far-Right-Narratives-and-Conspiracy-Theories/AT1063. Further details, including background resources, can be found at www.jbw-ourwebsite.
For additional questions, the DEXT Expert Center can be contacted at Ostanlage 25a, 35390 Gießen, by phone at 49 641 306 2471, fax at 49 641 306 2494, or email at [email protected].
The lecture comes as concerns grow over the spread of far-right ideology among young people. Organisers hope the event will equip attendees with tools to recognise and challenge extremist content. Those interested must secure their place by registering online before the session.
