Gießen Hosts Free Lecture on Combating Far-Right Narratives and Conspiracy Theories

A free public lecture on far-right extremism and conspiracy theories will take place in Gießen next March. The event aims to tackle the growing threat of radicalisation, particularly among young people on social media. Four organisations have joined forces to host the discussion, which will focus on prevention strategies and handling extremist content online.

The lecture, titled 'Far-Right Narratives and Conspiracy Theories', is scheduled for Thursday, March 12, 2026, from 6:30 PM to 8:30 PM. It will be held at the Jokus Youth and Cultural Center in Gießen. While admission is free, attendees must register in advance through the Gießen Adult Education Center's website at www.vhs-ourwebsite/course-search/course/Lecture-Far-Right-Narratives-and-Conspiracy-Theories/AT1063.

Far-right extremists increasingly use platforms like TikTok to target young audiences and spread radical ideas. Experts warn that such groups now pose the biggest threat to democratic values, actively seeking to radicalise individuals within mainstream society. However, no specific data exists on how conspiracy narratives and extremist content have grown on TikTok over the past five years.

The event is organised by the Youth Education Agency, DEXT Expert Center, Gießen Adult Education Center, and the Center of Expertise on Right-Wing Extremism. For more details, the DEXT Expert Center can be contacted at Ostanlage 25a, 35390 Gießen, by phone at +49 641 306 2471, or via email at [email protected]. Additional information is also available at www.jbw-ourwebsite.

The lecture will explore ways to counter far-right influence on social media and protect vulnerable groups. Organisers encourage anyone interested in the topic to register early. The discussion forms part of broader efforts to address extremism in digital spaces.
