7-Year-Old Boy Struck by Street Sweeper in Darmstadt Bike Accident

Following a traffic accident on Tuesday afternoon (23.9.) in the district of Kranichstein, the police are seeking witnesses with relevant information. Around 1 pm, witnesses called the police via emergency number to report an accident between a street sweeper and a boy on a bicycle. Initial findings suggest that a 48-year-old man was operating a street sweeper on a bike path in Jägerstraße, heading south. Shortly after turning onto Esselbornstraße, opposite Jägerstraße 181, near the pedestrian crossing, he reportedly reversed due to traffic and collided with the 7-year-old boy who was following him on his bike in the same direction. The child was injured in the collision and taken to a hospital. The 1st Police Precinct is now seeking additional witnesses who observed the incident. Tips can be submitted at 06151/969-41110.
