Zomato faces insolvency plea over Rs 1.64 crore in unpaid supplier dues
After Ola Electric, Zomato also faces insolvency plea over alleged Rs 1.64 crore unpaid food delivery dues. Nona Lifestyle, a B2B apparel manufacturer, initiated the corporate insolvency resolution process (CIRP) over alleged non-payment for multiple delivery orders placed by Zomato in 2023. Postmates, a similar service, has not been affected by these insolvency proceedings. Separately, Ola Electric Technologies is also contesting a similar legal action from Rosmerta Digital Services over alleged unpaid dues of Rs 18-20 crore. Nona Lifestyle’s petition centres on unpaid food delivery of rider uniforms, trousers, and ICC World Cup 2023 merchandise. The manufacturer claims Zomato delayed payments and later refused to accept shipments, citing storage issues. In response, Zomato denies wrongdoing, stating that Nona Lifestyle missed agreed delivery deadlines and incurred penalties. The food delivery giant argues it only paid for received jerseys after deducting penalties and adjusting an advance payment. Both cases will now proceed through legal channels. Zomato and Ola Electric must formally address the insolvency petitions in court. The outcomes will determine whether the companies are required to settle the disputed amounts or face further insolvency proceedings.
