Yakutia’s housing resettlement nears finish but faces financial hurdles

In Yakutia, 116 out of 124 planned apartment buildings have been completed, with 9 more nearing completion. This marks significant progress in the resettlement program that has benefited over 49,000 residents. However, several construction projects face delays and financial issues.

The resettlement program, initiated six years ago, aimed to replace dilapidated and unsafe housing. So far, it has provided new homes for residents, relocating them from a total of 911,000 square meters of old housing.

In Batagay-Alyta, a building stands 90% complete, but financial hurdles remain unresolved. Meanwhile, in Nyurba, a building on Kuzakov Street is 80% complete but has stalled due to the developer's failure to meet financial obligations. In Chuya, an apartment building is ready for handover, pending debt settlement for heating network connection.

In Chulman, three buildings are 65–90% complete, with strict deadlines set for their completion by the end of May. However, seven construction projects are behind schedule, with developers failing to fulfill their financial promises. Notably, the completion of the nine remaining apartment buildings has been delayed by the construction firm 'Yakutskstroy', which faces financial and logistical challenges in 2024. In Borogontsy, one apartment block is 98% finished, while another is 56% complete.

Despite the completion of 116 apartment buildings and the nearing completion of 9 more, several projects face delays and financial issues. A total of 321 apartment buildings have been constructed under the initiative, providing new homes for over 49,000 residents. However, the remaining projects require swift resolution of these financial challenges to ensure timely completion.
