Yakutia Restricts Foreign Email Domains to Combat Extremist Messages

Starting December 6, 2023, the Republic of Sakha (Yakutia) is implementing restrictions on emails sent to its government authorities from certain foreign domains. The move aims to combat an increase in false messages containing extremist content. Citizens are advised to use domestic email services to ensure their messages are delivered.

The restriction applies to emails sent from domains such as Gmail, Proton, Onionmail, Megamail, and Hotmail. It affects government email domains including 'sakha.gov.ru', 'adm.sakha.gov.ru', and 'gov14.ru'.

The reason behind this decision is the growing number of false messages with extremist content originating from these foreign domains. This has raised concerns about security and the integrity of communication with government authorities. The restriction is a preventive measure to address this issue.

From December 6, 2023, citizens and residents of Yakutia are advised to use domestic email services when communicating with government authorities to ensure their messages are not affected by the restriction. The government of Yakutia is taking this step to maintain secure and reliable communication channels.
