Wyatt Earp’s Colt revolver fetches $195K at rare Civil War auction

A recent auction at Poulin Antiques & Auctions saw rare Civil War artefacts fetch high prices. Among the top sales were a Confederate naval uniform, a historic battle flag, and a revolver once owned by the legendary lawman Wyatt Earp.

The event, held from 30 October to 2 November, attracted collectors eager to acquire pieces of American history.

One of the standout items was a Confederate First National Battle flag linked to the McNeill Partisan Rangers. The flag, with its deep historical ties, sold for $73,200. The auction house did not disclose the seller’s identity.

Another key piece was the naval uniform of Lieutenant John Low, who served aboard the C.S.S. Alabama. His well-preserved uniform went for $122,000, reflecting its significance in Confederate naval history.

A cased presentation sword and medals belonging to General Oscar Fitzalan Long also drew strong interest. The set, representing military prestige, sold for $26,840.

The highest bid of the auction, however, went to Wyatt Earp’s Colt Single Action Army revolver. Known for its connection to the famed lawman, the weapon sold for $195,200, making it the most valuable item of the event.

The auction highlighted the enduring demand for Civil War memorabilia and Western frontier artefacts. Prices ranged from five to six figures, with Wyatt Earp’s revolver leading the sales. The results confirm the market’s strong interest in historically significant American relics.
