Wrong-Way Driver Causes Serious Crash Near Dorlar, B 49 Temporarily Closed
Early on October 4, 2025, a 50-year-old woman driving a VW Golf caused a serious incident near Dorlar junction on the B 49. She entered the road in the wrong direction, leading to a head-on collision with a Ford Transit.
The collision resulted in minor injuries to both drivers, the 50-year-old woman and the 35-year-old Ford Transit driver. Additionally, a 53-year-old passenger in the Golf sustained minor injuries. The estimated material damage to the vehicles is substantial, ranging between 30,000 and 40,000 euros.
The B 49 in the direction of Gießen was temporarily closed for investigation and removal of the vehicles. The closure lasted from 01:20 AM to 03:50 AM, causing traffic disruptions in the area.
The incident highlights the importance of safe driving practices, particularly the need to adhere to correct driving directions. The Police Headquarters Central Hesse (Polizeipräsidium Mittelhessen) would have investigated the cause of the incident, with the police president and head of the command center overseeing the operation.
