WPG Bolsters Malaysian Presence With Cheang & Ariff Alliance

WongPartnership's regional legal network, WPG, has bolstered its Malaysian presence with the addition of prominent firm Cheang & Ariff. This move creates a dual-firm alliance within WPG, combining strengths across corporate, financial services, and dispute resolution practices.

Founded in 1986, Cheang & Ariff brings over 55 lawyers, including 24 partners, to WPG. Known for its dispute resolution focus, the firm also excels in corporate, capital markets, M&A, and intellectual property matters. This addition complements existing Malaysian member Foong & Partners, expanding WPG's network across Indonesia, Malaysia, the Philippines, and the UAE.

WongPartnership, which established one of the first Singapore law firm presences in China over two decades ago, welcomes Cheang & Ariff. Ng Wai King, chairman and senior partner, anticipates this alliance will provide clients with greater local insight and more seamless cross-border advice. The expansion comes at a timely moment, as Malaysia chairs ASEAN and participates in the Regional Comprehensive Economic Partnership, expected to boost cross-border investment flows.

The addition of Cheang & Ariff to WPG strengthens the network's Malaysian presence and enhances its ability to serve clients across various practice areas. As Malaysia's role in regional economic partnerships grows, this alliance is poised to facilitate cross-border collaboration and investment.
