Woman detained after vandalizing election posters in Eschwege

A 40-year-old woman was detained in Eschwege on Wednesday evening after allegedly damaging election posters. Police suspect her of spray-painting at least four campaign signs in the city centre with black paint. The incident was reported by a witness who saw her near Goldbachstraße.

The woman was first spotted holding a spray can close to Goldbachstraße. A bystander noticed her behaviour and alerted the authorities while following her until officers arrived.

Police provisionally detained the suspect and took her to the Eschwege station for questioning. She was later released, but investigators have opened a case into property damage.

The affected posters belonged to various political parties, though officials have not confirmed which candidates or groups were targeted.

The investigation into the vandalised election materials is ongoing. Police are reviewing evidence to determine whether further charges will be filed. The suspect remains under scrutiny as authorities examine the extent of the damage.
