Woman arrested after string of garden thefts shocks East Hesse communities

Schlitz. Between 01.07. and 23.09.2025, several thefts of garden articles - including decorations and plant pots - occurred in the areas of Schwalmtal - Hopfgarten and Schlitz - Willofs. During the investigation, suspicion fell on a 46-year-old woman from Schlitz. On application by the public prosecutor's office, the Gießen local court issued a search warrant for the suspect's residence. During the search, various previously stolen items were recovered. The 46-year-old will now face criminal charges for theft. As not all recovered items could be linked to a specific crime scene, it is suspected that there may be more victims.
