Mayor Dr. Maximilian Bieri and Councilor Isabelle Hemsley recently took on an unusual challenge for charity. The two officials worked as checkout operators at REWE Yunus Cifci’s supermarket in a friendly 15-minute duel. Their efforts raised funds for local causes

The event saw Mayor Bieri and Councilor Hemsley scanning groceries and processing payments for customers. Hemsley rang up €207.23

The charity checkout duel resulted in €2,800 for local organisations. Hanau Animal Shelter and Sprungbrett Familien- und Jugendhilfe e.V. will each receive €1,400. The event demonstrated community collaboration between local leaders, businesses, and charitable groups.
