Wiesbaden's street crime plummets by 500 incidents in 2025

Wiesbaden saw a continued drop in overall crime during 2025, extending a positive trend from previous years. The decline was most noticeable in street crime, which fell by over 500 incidents compared to 2024. Authorities credited stricter enforcement and a stronger police presence in public areas for the improvement.

Street crime in the city centre plummeted, with 3,968 recorded cases—a significant reduction from the year before. This followed a targeted initiative involving more than 8,000 person checks and the deployment of over 3,800 officers. The campaign uncovered 221 criminal offences and over 1,500 regulatory violations, reinforcing the impact of visible policing.

Despite progress in street crime, domestic violence remained stubbornly high, with around 840 cases reported in 2025. However, nearly every incident was resolved, keeping clearance rates close to 100%. Meanwhile, residential burglaries rose again, exceeding 600 cases after years of decline. The overall clearance rate for crimes stayed above 60%, showing steady police effectiveness. For street crime alone, the rate improved from 19.8% to 22.8%, reflecting better investigative outcomes.

The city's focus on high-visibility patrols and targeted checks contributed to the drop in street crime. While domestic violence and burglaries presented ongoing challenges, the majority of cases were solved. Wiesbaden's strategy of maintaining a strong police presence appears to be shaping its crime trends for the year.
