Wiesbaden’s New Year’s Eve dazzles with drones and tight security

Wiesbaden has announced strict security measures for this year’s New Year’s Eve celebrations. The city centre will ban fireworks, large bags, and firecrackers near the Kurhaus. Authorities are prioritising safety as crowds gather for the annual festivities.

The centrepiece of the event is the Silvester-Gala at the Kurhaus, starting at 19:45 or 20:30. Guests can enjoy live bands like the Urban Club Band and Palito AchĂŠ, along with DJ sets and aerial acrobatics by Tanja Resedaritz. Tickets include a drink package, and the night peaks at midnight with an eco-friendly drone show featuring 200 drones over the Bowling Green.

The drone display replaces last year’s light show and will be visible for free along Wilhelmstraße and the Kurhaus area. After the countdown, an after-party continues until around 6:00 AM.

Security will be tight, with increased police presence and plainclothes officers on patrol. Anyone carrying fireworks, oversized bags, or containers larger than A4 size may be refused entry. Enhanced searches and checks will apply throughout the city centre.

Authorities advise attendees to arrive early to avoid delays. The restrictions aim to prevent incidents and ensure a smooth celebration for all revelers.

The changes mark a shift toward safer, more controlled celebrations in Wiesbaden. Fireworks and large bags are prohibited, while the drone show offers a modern alternative to traditional displays. With stricter security in place, the city expects a well-organised and secure New Year’s Eve.
